What is an Automatic Transfer Switch?
During a power outage, it is necessary to supply an alternate power source to keep home and business systems running and avoid damage to the premises. Having a standby generator is only half the answer, because it would still need to be started and would also need someone to switch the electrical load over from the utility power. An Automatic Transfer Switch detects when normal power is lost and causes the standby power source to be used until power has been restored.
