What is an Automatic Transfer Switch?
An ASCO Series 300 Automatic Transfer Switch works in conjunction with your engine generator to ensure you have electrical power to your business premises at all times. During a power outage, the Automatic Transfer Switch transfers the load to the generator, and then transfers it back once utility power has been restored. The automatic element ensures that all this is done smoothly and with virtually no downtime.
How does the ASCO Series 300 Automatic Transfer Switch function?
• The ASCO Series 300 Transfer Switch comes with built-in control logic, which monitors the supply of power and detects when there are any interruptions.
• The ATS will then automatically start the engine generator when it senses the utility power failing. Once the generator has reached the correct frequency and voltage, the ATS then transfers the load from the utility to the engine generator. This happens seconds after a power failure.
• Once utility power has been restored, the ATS will switch the load back automatically. After a time delay, the engine generator is then switched off.
